Kitaōji Rosanjin (1883-1959)
TTS Editions | Kitaōji Rosanjin | Translation Archives | Threshold
Kitaōji Rosanjin alternated between philosophical, political, and journalistic registers in his writings concerning the complementary crafts of cooking and clay. Archive 00001 | Pottery offers a glimpse into the genesis of his personal practice and extends his perspective into the social world, while Archive 00002 | Cooking (forthcoming) illustrates his expansive knowledge of Japanese cooking and ingredients alongside his deep interest in the culinary traditions of the Western world. The essay currently available in Archive 00001 is the revised form of that translation archived by Binghamton University Libraries at The Open Repository @ Binghamton (The ORB). New and revised translations are underway, including excerpts from a cooking-themed series currently reserved for external publication review.
